So for this project, we had to deconstruct a box into any object, and I chose to turn this box into a camera! I probably should have used glue, so disregard the unattractive metallic tape I used... or just be convinced that it gives it character =)
Well articulated reaction paper. Though, I believe your major of study is a creative field as well, for many reasons. But we ca n talk further about it…
Good documentation of the process. It made me realize at what extent you have transformed the box. You didn’t use, as many students, a shoe or cubical box, but a long and thin one. Through this I can perceive that the translation of mass, structure and shape you developed was much more effective and creative that appeared at first glance of camara during the critique.
Regarding the use of silver duck tape, I agree with you that adds a “mechanical” touch to it. To me also gives the camera a sense of history, a camera that have been through a lot…traveled perhaps, and makes one wonder what it has been portraying…
What was pointed out in the critique, was rather regarding guidelines, as it was not allowed to add extra visual elements to it. And the tape, is. However, these are common misunderstanding due to the nature of presentation of the project description online rather than in class. Needed to be discussed anyway, though.
I would suggest also to take further photographs of the final piece from different perspectives. For this and future project, take advantage of the backgrounds and lighting set in the classroom for this purpose. Posting better quality images in your blog, will allow your viewers further appreciation of your 3D work .
